We see wide red lips that give a kiss to eyes tired of winter. Europe is strewn with these fields of bright possibilities. This field is in France. It occurs to me that poppy blooms last only for a day or two, it is the breathtaking surprise of them that lives in our memories. We pay attention, because they are so vulnerable to any weather and will soon be gone. Evanescence is their immortality. © 2004 Julie Ressler Watercolors |
